LIVING PROOF

Again and again,
Green Tech means success

“My son and I realized there are not only great teachers at Green Tech, but also a tremendous support system. Each year, my son strove to improve in the classroom. His extra efforts have paid off. He’s not only going to graduate, but he can hold his head high having worked hard enough to qualify for a Division I scholarship, the first for Green Tech.  I am extremely proud of him, yes, but eternally grateful for the entire Green Tech family.”

- Ms. Williams, Parent

“Green Tech is the best decision we ever made for our grandchildren’s education. Our experience has been more than just an educational one. The sports programs helped keep the boys focused. The coaches remind them that they are students first, athletes second and strictly enforce the grade point average requirements to remain playing on the team.

There is a real sense of caring for the community, family, and most of all building character within these young men through discipline.  They have taught my grandsons to respect themselves and others.  They have taught them to give back to the community through volunteering to help others along with teaching them to take directions and to respect authority.  I can’t rave enough about the instructors, the office staff, and administration."

Why parents make the change:

My son previously attended Albany, but he wasn’t thriving. I knew that he would at Green Tech which is why we made the change.

Why Students Make the Change:

I played a lot of basketball for other well known schools, but no one pushed me the way Green Tech pushed me. The coaches really developed me. They made me better than my best. People said that DIV 1 coaches sometimes scout Green Tech games. I didn’t believe it until one approached me about my future.

What the Community is Saying:

We were impressed with Green Tech students who volunteered at the VA medical center. They stepped up when we were unable to perform our usual activities providing veterans with refreshments and thanking them for their service. Keep up the good work!

________

Our family is very pleased with Green Tech and we greatly appreciate everything Green Tech has done for our boys over the years. We have seen them grow academically and become responsible, respectful, young men ready to make a difference in society. We want to thank every single staff member at Green Tech.

________

As a fellow educator I want to congratulate Green Tech on their students’ good character. At a football game I attended, the opposing team’s quarterback was injured. Two of Green Tech’s football players escorted the injured player back to his car in an act of good sportsmanship.

Green Tech isn’t just a school, it’s a community. The teachers really care and there are no outcasts. My son is a success because of them and I’m so glad we made the switch. From the moment we walked in the door we felt welcome.”

“What you have to understand about Green Tech is that we’re not just a school, we’re a brotherhood. When you first get here you get put in a Frat. That Frat? Those are your brothers. I’d do anything for my brothers and they’d do anything for me. That’s why we succeed. Green Tech’s different. I learned how to be a leader and not just a player. I learned how to be about my academics as much as my sport and I work to embody what it means to be a STUDENT-ATHLETE.”

“Green Tech pushed me not to just be the best basketball player, but to be the best student and leader I can be. I have abilities I never knew I had, I can definitely say that.”

”I had several recruiters trying to get me for their high school teams. I chose Green Tech. It made me into an even better athlete and gave me a brotherhood and community that I’m taking with me into my college basketball career.”

”I want my son to go to Green Tech because the students inspire me. They are kind, caring, respectful, dedicated, and charming. I’ve seen Green Tech young men become leaders and Green Tech is the only choice for me.”

”Green Tech staff brought out the best in my grandson. They taught him to use his intelligence and encouraged him to apply himself. He is doing very well at SUNY Cobleskill and he’s the happiest he’s ever been thanks to the Green Tech leadership.”

”I knew Green Tech was the school for me the first time I visited. At other schools, the staff acted like I wasn’t there, I didn’t take it personally. The Green Tech staff—everybody, teachers, front desk, you name it—they welcomed me and took the time to ask my name. I knew they wanted me there. It’s a community more than it is anything else. Like, a real community.”

”Green Tech is special for me because we have the same values. It’s a community. Even though my son graduated, I still come and volunteer at Green Tech events because it’s become my community, too, and I can make a difference.”

“Green Tech is such a great school The teachers actually want me to succeed, and so I have.”

“I feel like Green Tech really helped me pursue my dreams. A lot of people think that Green Tech is just sports, but they’re wrong. My teachers really helped me pursue my creativity and my advisors helped me every step of the way to help me find and enroll in culinary school. I’m looking forward to the next steps of my life as a master chef.”
